Costa Rica’s IVF ban challenged

Costa Rica is being sued for failing to lift its ban on IVF, as it remains the only country in the Western Hemisphere that prohibits the procedure. The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights said it will take Costa Rica to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights for not legalising IVF after the commission extended its previous deadline twice for the country to do so. IVF was banned in Costa Rica in 2000. Some couples have taken their cases to the Inter-American Court, based in Washington. ~ AFP, Aug 3
